WHAT'S NEW IN VIDEOMANAGER EL - Q3 & Q4 2023

In Q3 & Q4 2023, we introduced exciting new features for evidence handling, body-worn camera management and in-car video system management.

WIFI CAPABILITIES FOR V700S

The V700 body camera can now use WiFi to offload and stream footage, and broadcast location information. This feature is currently mutually exclusive with LTE; a V700 will only use WiFi if LTE is disabled. Automatic LTE/WiFi roaming will be available in the near future.

  1. Move your mouse over the Admin tab, and then click Device Management.
  2. Click Configurations, and then click the V300/V700 tab to open the list of existing configurations.
  3. Click the Edit icon for the configuration you want to edit. You can also click the sign on the bottom left of the tab to create a new configuration.
  4. In the Recording tab, scroll down to the Wi-Fi section.
  5. From the various drop-down lists, select what information the V700 will communicate to CommandCentral Aware via Wi-Fi, whether the V700 uploads video over Wi-Fi, and what kinds of event types the V700 will upload over Wi-Fi.
💡 If any of these settings are also enabled in the LTE section, then the V700 will use LTE instead of Wi-Fi for that purpose.

6.Click Done to save the changes

EXTENDED PRE-EVENT TIMES FOR V300S AND V700S

You can now set an extended pre-event time for your V300 and V700s. This enables officers to add up to 30 minutes to a recorded event, which can mitigate the need to create a RATF event once back at the station. Unlike a regular pre-event time, which only spans up to 2 minutes and is added to every event, an extended pre-event is longer and optional.

  4. In the Recording tab, from the Extended Pre-event drop-down list, select how much pre-event time will be added to an event. Options range from None to 30 minutes.
  5. Click Done to save the changes.
RECORDING INDICATION IN COVERT MODE FOR V300S AND V700S

You can now enable your body camera’s top LED to turn red while the camera is in covert mode, enabling your officers to confirm they are recording without drawing attention to themselves.

  1. Move your mouse over the Admin tab, and then click Device Management.
  2. Click General.
  3. In the Recording Indication in Covert section, check the Enable recording indicator covert box.

TARGETED FIRMWARE UPGRADES

You can now determine whether specific devices will receive firmware upgrades before the rest of your fleet whenever Motorola Solutions pushes new firmware to your system. This enables large agencies to test the new firmware and make any necessary changes to your workflows. You must first configure VideoManager EL so your firmware is managed by your agency, not Motorola Solutions. To do so:

  1. Move your mouse over the Admin tab, and then click Device Management.
  2. Click the relevant device family tab.
  3. Click Change in the Firmware section.
  4. Select the Let me decide which version: option.
  5. Click Save.

💡 Once a new version of firmware has been released (marked “recommended”), all devices will remain on the previous firmware version until “recommended” firmware is selected for upgrade by the agency administrator, which will initiate the upgrade process of the whole fleet to the recommended version. Every subsequent new “recommended” firmware release provided by Motorola Solutions will initiate an automatic upgrade process to the firmware version below the recommended latest firmware version. You can now enable early upgrades for specific devices.

You can now enable early upgrades for specific devices:

  1. Move your mouse over the Admin tab, and then click Device Management.
  2. Click Devices in the Device Management pane.
  3. Click the relevant device family tab, then click the device which will be upgraded before the rest of the fleet.
