NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q2 2024

We're excited to review the work done this past quarter to improve the CommandCentral Evidence experience for users of the cloud based platform. For any questions, reach out to customer success.

Map view in asset details

You can now see the location metadata of body-worn or in-car video alongside the video itself from the asset details pane. The location and video will play simultaneously, and you can skip to a specific section of the video by choosing the corresponding location on the map. To see the map view:

  1. Navigate to the relevant body-worn or in-car video file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, select the relevant clip or exported redaction from the Clips or Exported redactions tab.
  3. In the right-hand menu pane, click the location pin icon.

As you play the video, the map will automatically update to show the body camera or in-car video system’s location at the point where they recorded that section of video.

Bulk download

You can now save time by downloading multiple evidence files simultaneously. Each evidence file and its corresponding metadata CSV file are downloaded as separate files. To do so:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, select the relevant clip or exported redaction from the Clips or Exported redactions tab.

Enhancements to asset restriction

We’ve made asset restriction more nuanced. Instead of only being restricted or accessible to all users in an agency, assets can now be restricted to specific users and/or groups. To change which users have access to an asset:

  1. Open the Evidence Details page for the desired evidence.
  2. In the Access section, click Edit.
  3. From the dropdown, select either Standard access or Restricted access.
  4. Enter the names of users or groups who should have access to this asset, and click Add
  5. Click Save changes.

Mandatory fields

We’ve added the ability to make certain fields mandatory in the asset Details view, as indicated by an asterisk (*). Users will receive a warning if they try to exit the evidence details view without filling in these mandatory fields. You can configure mandatory asset metadata settings through the CommandCentral Evidence Settings page in Admin 2.0. To configure mandatory fields:

  1. Select Your Username in the top right-hand corner, and then click CC Evidence Settings.
  2. From the left-hand list, select Mandatory asset metadata settings.
  3. Use the toggles to determine which fields should be mandatory for users to complete, and which fields should be optional.
  4. Click Save.

Improvements to Search and Details views

We’ve made some enhancements to the Search and Details views: now, you can view the ID of the Incident next to the evidence file’s name, and view the number of derived files (e.g. clips and redaction projects) associated with an evidence file from the Search pane. We’ve also hidden thumbnails and added a red padlock for restricted files.

NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q1 2024

We're excited to review the work done this past quarter to improve the CommandCentral Evidence experience for users of the cloud based platform. For any questions, reach out to customer success.

You can now view CommandCentral Evidence in dark mode! Changing the theme will only affect your individual session, and your preference will be remembered for the next time you log in.

To change the theme, from Your username menu, select Switch theme

Preview metadata for clips and exported redactions

You can now view the metadata associated with clips and exported redactions from within CommandCentral Evidence. To do so:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, select the relevant clip or exported redaction from the Clips or Exported redactions tab.
  3. Click Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of the video player.
  4. Set Metadata subtitles to On.

Redaction enhancements

We've added multiple improvements to make the redaction experience smoother: the Smart Tracking auto-pause feature is now enabled by default, the audio button has been added to the redaction header, and redaction layers are expanded by default.

NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q4 2023

We're excited to review the work done this past quarter to improve the CommandCentral Evidence experience for users of the cloud based platform. For any questions, reach out to customer success.

Improved CommandCentral Sharing user interface

We’ve made lots of improvements to the CommandCentral Sharing application. You can now reshare packages you have received with public (non-authenticated) users and update shared packages with new information, among other features. To make the most of this new UI, navigate to https://sharing.commandcentral.com/.

Watermark Overlays

You can now enable a watermark overlay for your agency, for display over evidence file previews, to discourage unsanctioned viewing. This watermark can be a combination of your first and last name, your Officer ID, or a unique View ID. To enable watermarks

  1. From Your username menu, select CC Evidence Settings. Admin 2.0 opens in a new tab.
  2. From the left-hand list, select Watermark settings.
  3. Select Enable watermark for all users.
  4. Customize your watermark settings by performing the following actions:
  5.  From the Text dropdown, select the information that you want to include in the watermark for your agency. The Officer ID is displayed if it is available in the User Details in CommandCentral Admin application. If the Officer ID field is empty and the watermark is set to display the Officer ID, the user email is displayed instead. Officer ID change is cached for 50 minutes.
  6. In Position, select the tile corresponding to the location on the screen where you want to display the watermark.
  7. At the bottom of the screen, use the slider to configure the desired Watermark Size. You can preview the look of your watermark overlay above the Watermark Size slider. To test the look of the overlay, you can fill in Example officer name, Example officer id, and Example view id. If the text in any of the fields is too long, the font is automatically resized to fit the watermark section.

Location and Radius search fields enhancements

To save time, users can now delete their own individual clips, snapshots, redaction projects and exported redactions, instead of having to delete the entire parent asset. To delete a file:

  1. Ensure mapping has been enabled and configured for your agency. Contact customer success. for more information.
  2. In the left-hand Advanced search panel, enter the relevant information in the Location and Radius fields.
  3. Click Search.

Email Address (User Name) Change for User Accounts

In CommandCentral Admin 2.0, you can now change the email address for user accounts. This may be necessary if a user has changed the email address associated with CommandCentral Evidence. To change a username:

  1. Navigate to https://admin2.usgov.commandcentral.com/.
  2. Go the Users page, select the user account you want to update, edit the Email Address (user name) field, and click Save when finished. The next time the user logs into CommandCentral Evidence, they can use the updated email address.
NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q3 2023

We're excited to review the work done this past quarter to improve the CommandCentral Evidence experience for users of the cloud based platform. For any questions, reach out to customer success.

Improved Object Tracking

We’ve improved the accuracy of the generic object tracker by synchronizing the video frame rate with its processing, to ensure that there are no missed frames in the project. While most agencies will experience a reduction in processing time, it’s possible that those using a less powerful CPU will see a slight increase. Accordingly, to avoid any disruption to your team’s work, we’ve also introduced an option to change the speed of the tracker.

Note: Redaction is only available at the Plus tier of CommandCentral Evidence. If you are currently a Standard user, contact your sales representative to upgrade to Plus and get access to advanced features, such as redaction.

To change the speed of your tracker:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page under Media Player, select Create → Redaction Project.
  3. Above the Media Player, select Smart tracking.
  4. From the Default Speed dropdown, select the desired speed of the tracker.

Face Tracking Mode

The redaction editor now has a dedicated mode for tracking, and redacting, faces. This mode leverages machine learning to efficiently obscure sensitive or identifying information.

Note: Redaction is only available at the Plus tier of CommandCentral Evidence. If you are currently a Standard user, contact your sales representative to upgrade to Plus and get access to advanced features, such as redaction.

To enable face tracking:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page under Media Player, select Create → Redaction Project.
  3. Above the Media Player, select Smart tracking.
  4. From the Object Tracker dropdown, select Face Tracker.
  5. With your cursor, select an area within the video view that you want to redact.

💡 The face tracker may reduce your selected area, to focus only on the face in the frame.

Deletion Enhancements

To save time, users can now delete their own individual clips, snapshots, redaction projects and exported redactions, instead of having to delete the entire parent asset. To delete a file:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, open the relevant tab.
  3. Click Remove next to the clip, snapshot, redaction project or exported redaction you want to delete.

Asset Inheritance Permissioning

You can now determine whether access to digital evidence is inherited from associated incidents or not. For existing assets, if inheritance is enabled, then all users with access to the associated law incident will also be able to access that evidence as well. For new assets, the initial value of permission inheritance (enabled/disabled) is calculated based on which Permission option was selected by a user when they uploaded the asset.

To determine the inheritance permissions of an existing asset:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, in the Access and Retention section, set Inherit access from incident to On.

To set the inheritance permissions of a new asset:

  1. From the left-hand menu, select Create → Digital Evidence.
  2. The Upload assets dialog box opens. Either drag and drop the relevant files, or click Add Files, select the files or folders for upload, and click Open.
  3. From the Permission list, select the permissions for the files. You can choose Only me (The user is the only person allowed to view the files. This is the default value) or Groups (Specific groups can view the files. Groups are defined in CommandCentral Admin).

Rename Exported Redaction Projects

You can now rename an exported redaction after it has been created, making it easier for the recipient to identify important files. To rename an exported redaction project:

  1. Navigate to the relevant evidence file.
  2. In the Evidence Details page, under Exported redactions, select Edit next to the relevant export.
  3. Enter the new name of the export, and click Save.

CommandCentral Sharing Audit Log Enhancements

We’ve improved the audit log for specific actions taken on packages. In addition to general enhancements regarding assets and user activity, you can also track the activity of unauthenticated package recipients via IP address.

Redaction Project Timeline

You can now view a timeline for a redaction project, instead of being limited to the main playback timeline. This makes it easier to identify exactly where you are in a redaction project.

Redaction Keyboard Shortcuts

We’ve introduced three new keyboard shortcuts to keep redaction workflows efficient:

  • Move to the next start/end of the time segment: “]” key
  • Move to the previous start/end of the time segment: “[“ key
  • Delete Bounding Box: “Delete” key

Easily add and edit annotations for video evidence. The new annotations tab identifies the user that created the annotation. You can also easily jump to a segment of the video by selecting the desired annotation.

Filter by Source

The form-based search now includes the ability to filter by source. The options in the source list dynamically update based on the metadata of new sources when content is uploaded to your system.

Bulk Edits

Bulk edits are now available for officer, incident ID, tags, and restricted access, allowing you to take action on multiple files at once and save valuable time. Additional bulk edits will be available later this year.

Redaction Bounding Box Margin

In a redaction project, add a margin around a bounding box when using the smart tracking tool. This keeps the tracking box tight around the object, while allowing the redaction to go beyond the box and include everything in the margin.

NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q3 2022

We're excited to review the work that was done this past quarter to improve your CommandCentral Evidence experience. For any questions, reach out to customer success.

The Reimagined Redaction Experience is here!

Our reimagined redaction experience is now available with CommandCentral Evidence Plus! It’s faster, more accurate, and the media files never have to leave the CommandCentral system ‒ making the project trackable and more secure from beginning to end. Users can: redact audio, redact a full frame or a specific object within a video, highlight an object with inverse redaction, and overlay text onto the video.

Note: The new redaction experience is only available at the Plus tier of CommandCentral Evidence. If you are currently a Standard user, contact your sales representative to upgrade to Plus and get access to additional features.

Assisted Transcription Editing

Assisted Transcription now includes the ability to name individual speakers and correct errors in the transcription. You can apply a speaker’s name to a single line, or all of their lines in the transcription. Users can also correct errors in the transcription within the Evidence Viewer. All edits are included in the CommandCentral Audit Log and you can always go back and view the original transcription.

Note: Assisted Transcription is only available at the Plus tier of CommandCentral Evidence. If you are currently a Standard user, contact your sales representative to upgrade to Plus and get access to additional features.

Transcription editing requires permission from a system administrator. Follow the instructions below to enable transcription editing for specific users:

Quickly Share Single File and Derived Assets

Agencies often get requests to share a specific piece of media related to a case. Users can now share individual files or select groups of files from the Consolidated Record View, without having to share the entire case. This includes sharing derived assets, such as snapshots, clips, and redacted files.

Integrate CommandCentral Evidence with Your 3rd Party CAD System

Automate the correlation of digital evidence to an incident by integrating CommandCentral Evidence with your CAD System, saving you valuable time. We now offer integrations with non-Motorola Solutions CAD systems such as Tyler Technologies, CentralSquare, Mark43, and others! CommandCentral Evidence uses the evidence file’s metadata to correlate to the right CAD incident. From the Evidence Viewer, you can see why the system suggested that incident ID, as well as confirm or remove the incident ID.

NEW IN COMMANDCENTRAL Evidence - Q1 2022

We are excited to share the Q1 2022 updates for CommandCentral Evidence. Explore the new features below and please reach out to customer success with any questions.

Save Time with Fully Integrated Audio Transcription

Transcription is now embedded directly into the CommandCentral Evidence user interface for a more intuitive experience. Select the transcription icon to the right of your video to generate and view the transcription. Generating a transcription typically takes 80% of the length of the file. Stay tuned for additional transcription enhancements, such as editing the transcript and naming individual speakers.

Note: Audio transcription is only available at the Plus tier of CommandCentral Evidence. If you are currently a Standard user, contact your sales representative to upgrade to Plus and get access to advanced features, such as transcription.

Reassign Videos to the Correct Officer

Videos accidentally uploaded under the wrong officer’s name can now be reassigned, keeping your data and audit logs up to date and accurate.

CommandCentral Evidence is now available in French (Canadian)

Easily switch your software from English to French (Canadian), better optimizing the CommandCentral Evidence experience for our Canadian customers.

Uploading Extremely Large Files Just Got Easier

We’re looking for beta customers to try our new Evidence Loader, which allows agencies to upload and download extremely large files and include the file directory in the Consolidated Records View. This is extremely useful for uploading forensic images, cell phone extractions, and DVD or USB contents. Where the browser based upload experience in CommandCentral Evidence has a limit of 3,000 files at 128 GB per file, the Evidence Loader can handle up to 300,000 files at 256 GB per file — increasing the upload and download capacity by 100x! The original folder structure of the files is maintained and there is no need to zip files. Contact customer success if you are interested in participating in this beta.

Improve the Naming Structure of Evidence Downloads

We’ve improved the naming structure of downloaded WatchGuard device files to include key metadata. This allows users to quickly gain some context about the content they have downloaded. Please note, if you are a CommandCentral Vault agency, this naming convention will only apply to evidence uploaded directly to CommandCentral Evidence and not for files originally stored in CommandCentral Vault.

Create a Case Shell from your CAD System

Create a Case Shell in the Consolidated Record View using your agency’s CAD data. For third party CAD agencies, Motorola Solutions will need access to your agency’s data, including your databases, CAD API, data dumps, etc.
