Grants support students, teachers, first responders and community members in more than 30 countries
CHICAGO – Nov. 6, 2017 – The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions (NYSE:MSI), today announced more than $9 million in grant funding to charitable and educational organizations around the world. The grants will impact 3.4 million students, teachers, first responders and community members, with a focus on women, underrepresented minorities, people with disabilities and veterans.
“As a technology company that supports the safety of communities worldwide, we know our responsibility to support and educate goes beyond the workplace,” said Matt Blakely, Motorola Solutions Foundation executive director. “We are proud to support the work of so many organizations, both through grants and employee volunteerism.”
This year, a review committee of nearly 300 employees helped choose the grant recipients – charitable and educational organizations in more than 30 countries that focus on public safety and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
“By incorporating input from our global internal review committee, we were able to choose organizations that had a strategic connection to our company,” added Blakely. “We relied on our employees to tell us how the grants would impact the communities where they live and work.”
